Interview with Naiichie

Naiichie is an online concept artist who also creates Vtuber models for clients. She gave a talk regarding experience and the environment she works in as a freelancer. Naiichie mentioned the fact that University isn't enough experience alone for working in the industry, and that most employers or freelance work requires experience from outside of University. She also mentioned the importance of practice, which goes hand in hand with experience. Practice allows you to develop your skills further and therefore get more successful employment offers or clients. Building up a social media status also allows you to build up a bigger online presence and name, which opens you up to more opportunities as you become more visible to more people. Creating a network of connections is a great way to go about this. Since Naiichie is a freelancer, she gave more advice regarding becoming one. Naiichie advised us that becoming a freelancer is very difficult and demanding, since multiple clients need to be balanced at the same time, each with their own deadlines that need to be followed. The final piece also needs to be up to the clients standards, otherwise reworking is needed which requires more time. Naiichie also mentioned how it is crucial to adapt to the industry, she noted that whilst she currently makes Vtuber models she doesn't see the demand staying around forever and is prepared to change to a different newer area in the industry that she can apply her developing skillset towards.
